First Steps

If someone close to you dies, you should first take care that their home and personal possessions are secure. You are not permitted by law to enter a safe deposit box (other then that of a husband or wife) without first notifying Pennsylvania Department of Revenue or its authorized representative so that the contents if the box can be inventoried. Shortly after the funeral, you can meet with us to discuss the estate and what will need to be done. In most every case when a person dies having personal property or real estate in his or her own name, an estate must be administered.

An estate is administered by a personal representative. If there is will, the personal representative named in the will is called the "executor." If there is no will, that person is referred to as the" administrator" who is generally the closest available relative. Shagin Anstine LLC will work with the personal representative to ensure that the necessary legal requirements are complied with.
